Configuring your smart home devices can be a pain if you don’t pay close attention to what you get. Different products require different hubs to connect to, to be controlled and not all of your devices might work with your existing hub. There are devices that require bridges, some work with certain hubs only and some even require their own proprietary hardware to work. In an effort to make things simpler, Google has introduced the Seamless setup smart devices. The Seamless setup process allows you to set up compatible devices from start to finish in the Google Home app. When you choose devices that are supported for Seamless setup, you will not need a bridge or hub or the device maker’s app.Today we are looking at one such device, the Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 (Multicolor).

Introduction
The Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 (Multicolor) is the first Google Seamless compatible device from Yeelight. Seamless Setup allows you to quickly and easily set up Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 (Multicolor) in the Google Home App; there’s no need to download another app to link. And, the Google Nest device can act as the hub to connect Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 (Multicolor) to the web.
Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 (Multicolor) works with a diverse range of Google devices: GooGle Home, Google Home Mini, Nest Mini, Nest Hub Max, Nest Hub, Google Home Max or Nest Wifi. To setup the bulb you just need to plug it in the same room as your Google device, open the Google home App, select the device, give it a name and you are done. After setup you can control the dimming and brightening of your bulbs in the Google Home app, without the need of having another app.

Design and installation
For this review we received two Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 (Multicolor) and we are going to pair them with our Google Nest Mini (2nd gen). The Smart LED Bulb M2 comes equipped with an E26/E27 base that will fit in a standard light socket. The bulb is 124 mm in length and 60 mm wide and can fir most of your lighting lamps. The bulb can emit up to 1000 lumens at maximum brightness, which is roughly equivalent to a 90-watt incandescent bulb. That is more than enough to light up a room.
The package of the Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 has some useful information about the light bulb including some specifications. Inside the box we have the M2 bulb and a multi-lingual user manual explaining how to get started.
The setup is quite simple. Once you plugged in the bulb, you just have to open the Google Home App and at the top left, tap Add + → Set up device → Set up new devices in your home, select the Yeelight Seamless bulb and click Set Up. You will be prompted for the room and to give the bulb a name. This is it! Your bulb is now added to your home and you can start using it.
Features
The Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 is controlled by the Google Home app where you can control the dimming and brightening. Being fully integrated with the Google Home app, the bulb supports Google Assistant Routines and it can be controlled when you are away from home as well.
Basic controls from the app include turning the lights on or off, dim and brighten the lights, set lights colors and set light temperature. The response time via the Google Home app is extremely low, the commands work practically instantly.
Google default routines can be set up to control the bulb, such as Good Morning, Bedtime, I’m home and communiting routines. If you want advanced features you can use advanced IFTTT (If this than that) routines, which make the most out of your smart products.
The Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 has rich colors and a rich range of shades. The light brightness at 100% looks good and the bulb responds quickly to commands from the Google Home device. The response time is way shorter than when using a different bulb with the Yeelight app integrated in the Google app, for instance.
Conclusion
Yeelight Smart LED Bulb M2 (Multicolor) is a smart buy if you already have a Google Home product. It is super easy to set up and use and it works flawlessly. You don’t have to deal with more apps, hubs, and accounts and it is as intuitive as it can get. IF you do not want to use a smart hub, don’t want any fancy light features and are looking for some lights to pair them up with your Google Home devices, the Yeelight M2 is probably the best way to go at this point.
