Back in June AMD announced the launch of its somewhat flagship Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled Edition. While this, without a doubt, represented their most premium product from the 6000 series, it did come with something of a notable caveat that stopped it from being a fully-fledged ‘flagship’. Namely, that AMD was rather selective in who it supplied this AIO graphics card solution to. – To date, and generally speaking, this hasn’t been available to regular consumers like you and me. Not that this makes it much different from any actual GPU that has supposedly been on the market.
Following a report via TechPowerUp, a European retail listing for the Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled Edition suggests that AMD is finally willing to relax the reigns a little on the exclusivity of this graphics card!
AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled Edition
In terms of specifications, the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT LC is notably beefier than its standard counterpart. Most notable among these include a significantly faster clock speed off 2435 MHz (2250 MHz on the original) along with a memory speed boost of 16 Gbps to 18 Gbps.
While it might perhaps quite stack up to the heights of the Nvidia 3080, this is still an exceptionally potent graphics card and more so with the helpful bonus of an AIO liquid cooling system. With it now available to purchase via German retailer MindFactory, however, while this is now available for general consumers, there are two pretty big reasons why you shouldn’t get too excited about this. Firstly, AMD has confirmed that it’s only going to be released in limited numbers (see below), and secondly, it’s pretty expensive!
“AMD will be making a limited number of Radeon RX 6900 XT liquid cooled reference design graphics cards available to select system integrators. System integrators are a critical part of the gaming ecosystem and offering this this model through their channels helps ensure that as many of these products as possible get into gamers hands.”
A Mad Price – That Perhaps Doesn’t Seem Totally Insane!
As far as I’m aware, AMD never officially gave the Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled Edition an official MSRP. As noted above, this was a graphics card that was more given than sold. Given that €1,749 works out to roughly £1,499, however, this graphics card certainly isn’t cheap. In fact, based on the rarity of the Nvidia 3080’s MSRP, this is well over double the comparative price.
Still, though, some people will be all over this largely based on the fact that this is such a rare GPU and particularly so now for general consumers. Albeit, I think many would consider any Radeon 6000 graphics card as rather a rare creature these days.
